REIKI NEWS AND VIEWS
Welcome to another issue of our Reiki newsletter. Sunshine blessings to you all.
I've spent quite a lot of time by the sea during the last few months, not in my home town but in Newquay, Wales.
What a wonderful experience on those cold, fresh mornings to walk a harbour wall with wind whistling across my face and swirling all around me. I always imagine Reiki energy within the wind, blowing cobwebs away, uplifting and invigorating me. The sky was the most startling blue on occassion with the waves changing daily from soothing gestures to wild, wrestling waters. How I love the sea.
It's a magical time of year to get out and about, taking in the spectacle of wild flame colours on the trees. Everythings preparing to take its seasonal rest. Remember to give yourself time to gather your thoughts and to rest a while too, walk by the sea, tread leaves in the woods. Whatever it takes, allow yourself time for you.
YOUR ONLY LIMIT IS YOUR IMAGINATION
Generations of indigenous people from all over the world have known that in order to be healthy we must maintain our mind, body, heart and spirit, today we in the West call this holistic health.
To stay healthy we're called upon by your whole self to take some responsibility. If we break down the word ‘responsibility’ the words we’re left with are – response ability. This helps to identify that holistic health requires that we have the ability to respond to the needs of our mind, body, heart and spirit.
We’re born from a long line of people who have thought that we’re here to serve others, putting everyone else first. We've been made to feel guilty if we give ourselves 5 minutes to relax, never mind book ourselves in for an hours healing. Ironically, the truth of the matter is that, exactly the opposite is true. Our wellbeing and spiritual health is paramount. We can only help others if we're aware of what it takes to be well and are prepared to reflect that.
Life is creative intelligence in action, the primary creative force in the universe, moulding and shaping our existence. The very thoughts that you and I send out to the universe reflect our very own personal method of self expression. Life constantly manifests our creative intentions.
Creativity is at the heat of all things. Every moment is one of creation. Breath creates life.
Reiki is a creative expression of Gods love, Love from our Source, loving and healing Universal Energy.
Many people deny that they are creative; some believe they don’t have time to express their creativity, but it is the very source of who we are; life is inherently creative.
Creativity is the key to feeding the spirit and creating a joyful healthy life. It can bring about deep healing, change, growth and regeneration. You will learn to connect more deeply with your intuition, uniqueness, wisdom and imagination and it will expand into all areas of your life.
To stop the flow of creativity is like damning a river and curtailing its flow.
Let the river flow!
Creativity is an adventure playground; unlimited possibilities exist within us, vast fields of unborn potential. By opening ourselves up to listening, to our higher self, we can access our inner source of inspiration, which can arrive in a huge variety of forms. We can even apply creative expression to the seemingly most mundane of daily tasks. Just listen to your heart. Creativity is a joyful process of self expression, a celebratory signature of our uniqueness.
Don’t worry about criticism. We are free spirits walking a unique path, don’t become attached to what others think; merely bless them and their right to their own opinion. Celebrate and nurture your individualism, take time to praise your unique stance.
When you’re being creative, give yourself the licence to abandon self judgement and celebrate mistakes, because these are what take you out of your comfort zone and begin to lead you towards the adventurous world of experimentation, exploration and pushing personal boundaries.
Encourage yourself to take risks. Try not to plan, just invite the flow to take you. Get rid of the worry gremlins – be daring. Be a child again, get a wadge of paint on your hands and just spread it out with your fingers on paper in wild abandon, lots of colour, lots of glitter and most of all have lots of fun.
If things don’t pan out, breathe deeply consider what you’ve learnt from the processes involved, laugh a lot and move on.
Learn how exciting un-chartered territory can be. Splash wild coloured food on a plate for a dinner you’re giving, dance like you’ve never danced before, sing loudly and out of key, plant orange next to bright purple and yellow in your garden, be bold, be daring. Be spontaneous, be messy and be glad about breaking down boundaries.
Experimentation is the aim, not the enemy; mistakes should be exhilarating and not paralysing.
Pay attention to every wonderful inventive word your creative voice speaks to you, write notes about it, day dream about it, and feed the little seeds of inspiration. Try and do something to express your creativity every day.
Creativity is healing energy for your soul, enjoy the benefits and combine Reiki in all that you do. Express Reiki in creative fashion, sing the Reiki principles, write a poem about them, dance to your own intuitive, creative Reiki spirit.
o Affirm: I am an artist and I invite creativity out to play.
o Set your intention clearly – e.g - I am a channel for creative inspiration/creativity flows through every part of my being.
o Feel creativity in your body, get excited about it.
o Take time to give yourself Reiki and breathe in creative energy
o Remember each breath that we take and each thought that we have is creative. You are a creative spirit.
Creativity rules!
Rampant Reiki, release my creative imagination.
Release the fears that stand in my way.
I breathe in; knowing that with each inhalation,
Creativity, from the source, is being absorbed by every cell in my body.
It flows through my veins to my heart,
where it’s released with loving appreciation for the creative human being that I am.

To ponder on......
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
FREE ASSOCIATION AND AFFIRMATION JOGGING
Running has never been ‘my thing’, flexible through Yoga and Pilates I might be, but years of cardiovascular neglect has taken its toll on my weekend walking. Those steep Cornish cliffs and inclines made my chest tight, my face red and my body ache with exhaustion, in addition I was lagging behind my husband and felt like a spare part. Coastal walking had become more like a physical challenge than an enjoyable walk.
By a quirk of intention and the law of attraction I started jogging after work with colleagues who were absolute beginners, along with one work mate, ex-forces PTI as our guide. Here I learnt that good instruction is everything.
Through the experience of running, many of the beliefs that I held about myself were challenged.
This was no small ‘blinkers off’. My internal dialogue told me ‘I do not have the ability to run,’ due to past experiences relating to school thus leading to the belief that I really couldn’t.
This was now (22 years on ) being blown out of the water. Here was this woman showing me with detailed instructions and
guidance that I could run, this was an achievable aim and thoroughly enjoyable. Best of all it highlighted an old belief pattern that I was able to turn on its head.
Tips from a novice.
Here are some of the things I found useful.
1. With a good posture cross crawl phrases you wish to be true, into your energy field.
“I jog easily and effortlessly “
“Jogging comes easily to me “
I use this as a warm up exercise, but also as a strengthening phrase as I jog about.
Cross Crawl: Standing upright, place your right hand on your left knee while raising that knee as high as comfortable. Now reverse: left hand on right knee. Just like marching on the spot, with the opposite hand touching the opposite knee. Do it fast. Do it slow. Do it with music. Do it with your kids.
For more information on basic cross crawl and other brain gym exercises, for improving co-ordination and easing stress, visit:

www.braingymclasses.com
2. Imagine yourself drawing the reiki power symbol on the soles of your feet, with the intention of giving yourself power and strength.
Expand this into the jogging routine, imagine spreading reiki’s loving energy onto the tarmac to smooth the way for everyone who treads the path after you.
3. Run with awareness.
As you run bring your attention to your body posture, alignment of feet and ankles, observe the length of your stride, the position of your chest. Notice whether your body is upright, leaning forwards or pushing backwards. Have awareness of the pace you’re running at, do you run fast, slow, observe how each feels?
I felt a greater sense of myself and my body, breathing in AIR and LIFE whilst contemplating these things.
Try freeing up your movement. Focus on any tight, stiff parts of your body that you could relax through the process of gentle, loving, affirmations. These should flow naturally whilst jogging, as each comes with a rhythm. Follow the associations as one phrase leads to another intuitively. I found this stream of free associations very empowering, not just to help me run, but to help me reflect on the stiff, tight parts of my beliefs, thoughts, emotions, dreams and at a soul level.
“My legs run freely”
“My arms move freely”
“My hips move freely”
“I move freely”
“I run freely”
“I am free”
Through rolling from one affirmation to another like this I could feel an opening and freeing up at EVERY level.
Old patterns, old lives, old judgements, literally jogging away outmoded ways of being.
Through continuous use of these tools over many months I began to see the closer links between my emotional head and how I moved and jogged - the outer world reflecting the inner worlds. My experiences led me not to plan a set route, I had a strong need to run in whatever direction my body chose to experience freedom, in my feet.
At the end of the day.
I’ve no doubt that using reiki and placing gratitude along with positive affirmations cross crawled into my energy field has helped me through the darkest parts of my running experience. Today I run with the feeling of a deer through an urban forest, feeling the presence of my ancient herd, feeling the air around my body like ripples of an invisible sea, the currents of this sea feed my instinct to move, sniffing the air for clues as I run lightly on the earth.
“ Wisdom in my right foot, love in my left foot”
Tapping in the tarmac “wisdom” “love” ”wisdom” “love”.
“ I run with light delight”
It doesn’t take long to realise that approaches to running reflect our approaches to life, and you can choose to run or jog into a new direction
at any time. Affirmations can help:
“I move forward with health and vitality”
“I move forward with spiritual wellbeing”
“I move forward with forgiveness…abundance…light….peace”
“I move forward with flexibility and grace”
Jogging was, literally, jogging old memories and providing a tool to jog on through these, to better perspectives on my world.
If you’ve incorporated reiki into exercise/ sports/ martial arts or other hobbies I’d be interested in hearing how and it would be great to share them with others here in Reiki News and Views.

MINI REIKI RETREAT
We all need to let light into our soul and replenish our store of life and energy. Hectic lifestyles and other stuff gets in the way, but there is another solution. You don't need to book yourself in for a week at a spa, there are some tips that you can use to make retreat time more accessible.
Make a slice of time for yourself - 10 - 20 minutes if you can't do more.
It must be qualilty time that won't be interupted.
Don't feel guilty, everyone needs time out and if you just take a few minutes it might save you getting that cold or bug that everyone else has.
Prior to each exercise call on Reiki to help to restore and reviatlise you and smile : )
- Take breaths from your abdomin, about 2 fingers down from your naval. Focus on breathing in and out steadily. Let Reiki flood in.
- Watch a bird in the sky, flying, soaring, imagine yourself up there with it. It's exhilerating!
- Learn some basic stretches for your head, neck and shoulders, do them gently and slowly. Then hold your hand over your eyes for 5/10 minutes to channel Reiki.
- Get a beautiful sea shell that you can hold to your ear, close your eyes and visualise yourself by the sea. Relax
- Get a mini watercolour set and a small note book and paint Reiki symbols, spontaneous pictures, or just flashes of colour. (small note books take away the pressure to fill a page) Let Reiki flow through your arms to your hands, feel the creative process bringing you calm.
- Pour a glass of water and give it Reiki. Drink the water and imagine it's filled with white light and Reiki that streams into your body restoring you to full strength.
- Put some energising music on and jump up and down or dance
- Make yourself a rattle out of a jar and some dried rice or beans and shake it all around yourself and your aura to revitalise the energy around you.
- Go outside to a bench or a park and take 5 minutes to 'Listen', no thinking, just listening to all that's going on around you.
- Go for a brisk walk, focusing on breathing in fresh air. Imagine drawing one or more Reiki symbols on the souls of your feet and that they're healing the earth as you go.

BOOK REVIEW - 1
28 days to a more magnetic life By Sandra Anne Taylor
A great little book. I carry it around in my bag and dip into it whenever I feel I need a reminder of who and what I really am. You can either read the book from start to finish or just dip in when you want. It never ceases to amaze me that I open it on exactly the right page to inspire me at that particular moment, changing the energy that I reflect out, changing the flow. It allows me to re-connect when I loose my way during some of those mad hat days.

The Answer is Simple....... Love Yourself, Live your Spirit.
By Sonia Choquette
This is a fantastic book, which makes me take deep breaths, breath out with a big sigh of Ahhhh and a feeling of coming home to my spirit self. It’s full of stuff that makes my heart sing. Would you believe it, GRATITUDE comes up again as a key to inner happiness and remaining in the vibration of self love through getting to know and recognise your spirit. Love and reiki go hand in hand. Another way to look at a topic with cosmic implications.

59 seconds: Think a little, change a lot
By Prof. Richard Wiseman
For you, left brain, logical thinkers and right brain creative bod’s, this book has something to offer all of you. It’s a well put together and humorous collection of the more unusual social psychology studies. Focusing on areas of self help and healing, as well as many other topics.
I found this an encouraging read from a reiki point of view as it supports many of the things we talk about, why happiness is not just about imagining a positive future, meditation is not enough. What really works involves a pencil, keeping a good diary, small acts of kindness, and developing the gratitude attitude.
I felt this book was a good support tool for the before and after time with reiki clients, the all important listening space. If a little guided conversation is needed you can’t go far wrong by introducing some well researched and proved self help tips into the flow of conversation.

May the sun bring you new energy by day,
may the moon softly restore you by night,
may the rain wash away your worries,
may the breeze blow new strength into your being.
BAGS OF LIFE
During our spiritual journey we learn, grow and transform. We accumulate a spiritual toolbox of resources that we can use to help us through each step of our adventure - life is an adventure.
A toolbox should be filled with useful stuff that is realistically going to help. Books, spiritual information, workshops, talks, their all filled with lots of guidance, beautiful words of wisdom that tell us ‘how to……, what to expect and how you’ll feel. I learnt a long time ago that I must be the exception! The odd bod! None of what these lovely people described seemed to reflect my own experiences. I was aghast until I came across these lines:
“Who ever told you that the bamboo is more beautiful than the oak, or the oak more valuable than the bamboo?
Do you think the oak wishes it had a hollow trunk like this bamboo?
Does the bamboo feel jealous of the oak because it is bigger and its leaves change colour in the fall?
The very idea of the two trees comparing themselves to each other seems ridiculous”
These lines come from - (Osho Zen Tarot) The transcendental game of zen.
Everything is special and has its place, just as information does. Some information and literature is beautiful, some of it is helpful but they are all expressions of unique points of view, representational of one person’s journey. You are unique and will see the world differently, you’ll have different experiences. Do not be afraid of who you are.
Being unique means that you have to find your own individual tools for your toolbox, don’t be afraid to change things to suite your own needs, they have to work for you alone.
Experimenting with my own spiritual toolbox
Recently the focus has been on the environment things like a ‘Bag for Life’.
I don’t normally spend time pondering things like a re-useable bags! but it led me to contemplate my personal environment, the one I inhabit daily.
Bag for life?
How about ‘Bags of Life’, that’s what I needed. I wanted to feel that I had Bags of Life! I wanted to feel good and to reflect that out to others, I wanted to feel that I had an overflowing amount of life in me, bags of life with oomph!
How could I convert this into something I could easily access when I was rooting about in my spiritual toolbox, which I delve into every now to try and find the right spiritual fix for the moment. One of those ‘help me now!’ states of mind.
Then I realised that for some time now I’ve become concentrated on ‘Blessing’. It’s something that I’ve been focusing on since first learning the Reiki principles and then more seriously after receiving the indispensable book - ‘The gentle art of blessing’ by Pierre Pradervand, which was a gift from my lovely Mum.
I started to look at the effects that Blessing had had on my life and how it changed my state of mind. Nothing else worked like blessing, it was instant. What was I doing when I blessed, expressing Gratitude and Appreciation! Blow me down, there I had it, to get me a ‘Bags of life’ state of mind I had to call on my BAG of tools not a toolbox!!!
B – BLESSINGS A – APPRECIATION G - GRATITUDE
The three things at the heart of joy, happiness and love.
Three things at the heart of the Reiki principles.
Now I just call on Reiki, fill myself up with it and start blessing. I feel full of life because everyday I'm reminded of how very special my life is. It makes me feel alive.
I bless you

REIKI DAYS
The first time I switched on Reiki
In walked love.
BIG AND BOLD,
it held me in its arms,
encompassed me with healing,
stayed as long as necessary
HELD NO JUDGEMENT.
At session end
REIKI LOVE unwrapped me gently,
And filling my aura full
walked with me.
It continues to walk with me ALWAYS.
Sometimes I forget about healing myself.
I just think… HUG
and Reiki fills every atom of my being and love holds me tight.
My aura quivers with source energy
I know that I am held in the arms of something
no words can describe however OFTEN I try.
